A Day at the Markets

Last month we visited Moruya Markets in the beautifully located Riverside Park. It was a lovely spring day and we all enjoyed visiting the many stalls with their yummy homemade goodies, colourful (lots of red and purple) clothing and matching bling.

And what a surprise to see double the number of Red Hatters there - unbeknown to us, our sister Red Hat ladies, Sisters with a Twist, from Canberra, had decided to visit the markets as well.

It was delightful to meet you, ladies. We hope you enjoyed your visit to our neck of the woods. Come again soon.

After the markets, a quick visit to the local music store was in order, to allow some of the Belles to purchase their official instruments, the kazoo.

And the outing ended, as usual, with a delightful lunch, attended by some of our Canberra visitors.

Farewell Lollylegs

An impromptu lunch in September allowed us to farewell member Lollylegs who has the misfortune of having to move back to the big smoke.
We hope you enjoyed your time with us ... and please come back to visit.

Birthday Bash

Its our birthday. The Blushing Bay Belles Chapter celebrated two years of Red Hatter fun with a birthday bash last month. Of course, no birthday is complete without a cake, and this was a beauty, provided by Queen Red Hot Mama.

Minute to Win it - Red Hat style

We think these photos speak for themselves, but to put them into context, the Belles celebrated the Chapter's second birthday with an afternoon of fun, frivolity and a bit of mayhem, playing these Minute to Win It games!

Who would have thought unrolling toilet paper could be so much fun?

And getting down and dirty while trying to roll marbles across the floor?
And trying to catch a biscuit in your mouth without using your hands is not as easy as it looks on TV!

Lovely lunch, beautiful day

It was a beautiful, sunny day last Saturday when the Belles enjoyed a lovely lunch at the South Bank restaurant, followed by a promenade along the Clyde river foreshore, where a kind gentleman took the photo below.

It's been a while ...

... since our last posting, but the Bay Belles have continued to enjoy various activities including a "lawn bowls for beginners" day at Batemans Bay and lunch at Malua Bay. Unfortunately, your correspondent, Dame Scarlette, has not been able to attend recent events, so at present she hasn't any photos to post. Watch this space!

Meanwhile, the poem below gives food for thought.

DUST if you must…
Dust if you must, but wouldn’t it be better
To paint a picture or write a letter,
Bake a cake or plant a seed,
Ponder the difference between want and need?
Dust if you must, but there’s not much time,
With rivers to swim and mountains to climb,
Music to hear and books to read,
Friends to cherish and life to lead.
Dust if you must, but the world’s out there
With the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair,
A flutter of snow, a shower of rain.
This day wil not come round again!
Dust if you must, but bear in mind
Old age will come and it’s not kind
And when you go, and go you must,
You, yourself, will make more dust.

Teddy Bears' Picnic

If you went down to the river a few days ago, you may have had a big surprise, for the Bay Belles and their teddies gathered there for a Teddy Bears picnic. Teddies of all sizes and our mascot, Jessie, enjoyed the lovely autumn day.

Majestic Margaret and friends enjoyed a cuppa during the picnic.

A Reduation

Last weekend a bevy of Belles travelled north to join our Ulladulla sisters, the Seaside Girls as they celebrated the Reduation of Christine, the Pink Princess.

Congratulations to Christine, now known as the Countess of High Kicks and thanks to the Seaside Girls for a lovely day. It was nice to meet you all.

Meet Jessie ....

...the Blushing Bay Belles' new mascot.

Jessie accompanies the Belles to all their activities, even trying her hand at mini golf.

Mini golf

A quick round of Mini Golf followed by lunch was one of the Belles' most recent outings.
While most of us knocked up cricket scores on the way around, much fun was had by all.

The new year begins ...

The Blushing Bay Belles have begun a new year of friendship and fun. Activities began with a Hawaiian themed pool party at the home of Madame Kaphoops in January and will continue with a game of putt putt golf in February.

For photos, watch this space!

The old year ends ...

An elegant "Denim and Pearls" picnic at the Eurobodalla Botanic Gardens was the final 2009 activity for the Blushing Bay Belles. Everyone enjoyed the great Christmas food, some fun games and good coffee at the Garden's cafe. Special thanks to Flame of the Coast who gifted each Belle with a lovely red 'pearl' necklace.

Thanks to Pam for providing the photo.
