There have been some changes .... Farewell June

The Belles have undergone some changes in recent months.  At the end of last year we said a sad farewell to Queen Red Hot Mamma June who has returned to border country to live closer to her family. We miss you, June.  Come back and see us soon.

Introducing our new Queens

We were then delighted to welcome our two new co-Queens, the Margarets.

Their Majesties, Queen Majestic Margaret (left) and Queen Maggie May.

Recent Activities

In the past few months, our activities have included the annual pool party, a beach walk and picnic lunch and a guided tour of The Original Gold Rush Colony at Mogo where some hardy members tried their hand at gold panning in VERY cold water, followed by a delightful lunch at Tomakin.

At the pool party

It was a rather cool day, so some just liked to watch ...
..... while a few of the more daring braved the water ....

.... and enjoyed a warming spa afterwards.

Normal activities resume...

Well after a mid-winter break, when Belles have travelled to warmer climes, enjoyed participating in a major bowls tournament, or simply hibernated for a while, the Blushing Bay Belles have resumed normal activities.

First off the mark was a visit to Morning Melodies at the Soldiers Club. Unfortunately, your correspondent, Dame Scarlette, is still enjoying the Queensland sunshine, so there are no photos available at present.

Next outing is on 10 September. We will meet at 11am at The Olive Tree, Beach Road, for a musical jam session and a good catch-up of everyone's winter adventures.

The Age of Aquarius

When the moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars....

and the Blushing Bay Belles will come out to play.

The Belles first gathering for this year was the "fast becoming traditional" January pool party at the home of one of our members.

The hippie era was the theme for the party and the ladies dressed in their best flower-power finery to celebrate the occasion. There was a lot of tie-dyed fabrics, head bands, and beads, beads, beads!

Of course the hippie image is not complete without hair!

Give me a head with hair, long beautiful hair.
Shining, gleaming, streaming, flaxen, waxen.
Give me down to there hair, shoulder length or longer
Here baby, there, momma, ev'rywhere, daddy, daddy.

hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
Hair, hair, hair.Flow it, show it,long as God can grow it, my hair

Kerang Frivolity Chapter Calendar

Your correspondent, Dame Scarlette, was the lucky recipient of a copy of the delightful 2011 calendar produced by the the Kerang Frivolity Chapter.
Well done to Queen Mary and the chapter members for a tasteful production which embodied the joyous nature of all Red Hat ladies.
Sadly, Kerang, in northern Victoria, was one of the many areas of Australia to be affected by the January floods. We hope that the Frivolity ladies and all other Red Hatters affected by the recent floods, bushfires and cyclones are recovering from these traumas.

Here are some images from the calendar:

More from Moruya

A few more photos from our visit to the Moruya markets, catch up with the Sisters with a Twist from Canberra and the music shop where everyone purchased their kazoos.

A Day at the Markets

Last month we visited Moruya Markets in the beautifully located Riverside Park. It was a lovely spring day and we all enjoyed visiting the many stalls with their yummy homemade goodies, colourful (lots of red and purple) clothing and matching bling.

And what a surprise to see double the number of Red Hatters there - unbeknown to us, our sister Red Hat ladies, Sisters with a Twist, from Canberra, had decided to visit the markets as well.

It was delightful to meet you, ladies. We hope you enjoyed your visit to our neck of the woods. Come again soon.

After the markets, a quick visit to the local music store was in order, to allow some of the Belles to purchase their official instruments, the kazoo.

And the outing ended, as usual, with a delightful lunch, attended by some of our Canberra visitors.

Farewell Lollylegs

An impromptu lunch in September allowed us to farewell member Lollylegs who has the misfortune of having to move back to the big smoke.
We hope you enjoyed your time with us ... and please come back to visit.
